Tech giant Google will contribute to significant budgetary relief for the European Union. Following the final conclusion of the long-running dispute regarding Android antitrust violations, the company has transferred approximately €4.6 billion to the bloc's treasury.

According to Politico data, this amount represents about 2.4% of all projected revenue in the EU budget for 2026. Since the Union's budget must be balanced, the funds from the fine will allow member states to reduce their direct contributions. This is particularly important at a time of economic uncertainty, high energy costs, and pressure on public finances in Europe.

One of the biggest beneficiaries will be Germany, which could receive relief of around €1 billion. This comes at a critical moment for Berlin, which is actively pushing for cost reductions in the next European budget.

However, experts emphasize that this one-time sum is merely a "safety belt" rather than a long-term solution. The European Commission is already preparing a new large-scale budget for the 2028–2034 period, which is expected to reach nearly €2 trillion. These funds will be necessary to finance key sectors such as agriculture, defense, regional development, and the management of pandemic-related debt.

In parallel, the EU is also activating new revenue mechanisms, such as the temporary €3 duty on cheap online parcels from third countries (up to €150), which will remain in effect until July 2028.
