The exhibition "Dimensions" by artist Dona Nedelcheva is now open at the Rayko Alexiev Gallery. The exposition focuses on geometric abstraction as a tool for exploring pictorial space, not seeking to measure visible reality, but rather to reveal different emotional and spatial states. Nedelcheva's creative approach is characterized by a search for balance between the discipline of composition and the freedom of the painterly gesture.

Evolution of Plastic Language and the Risk of Monotony

"Dimensions" represents a natural continuation of the author's already established plastic system, recognizable from previous exhibitions such as "Areal" (2009), "Intermediate Spaces" (2012), and "/O/position" (2016). While the 2016 exhibition "/O/position" prioritized freedom through heterogeneous aspects, "Dimensions" appears as a calmer and more concentrated continuation, in which freedom is not asserted through opposition, but through the sequential construction of a unique artistic world.

However, the exhibition also poses a critical question regarding the seriality of the works. A large part of them unfold similar compositional models, similar color organization, and an almost identical way of forming shapes. This repeatability, although appearing to be a conscious approach, gives rise to a risk of monotony and raises the question of whether seriality limits the option of individual works to build their own, specific identity.

Color and Rhythm

The visual concept is subordinated to a uniform color system, dominated by cool blue-green tones, complemented by white and violet accents, creating a meditative atmosphere. These elements, along with rarer accents in yellow and orange that provide a necessary color counterpoint, maintain the rhythmic uniformity of the exposition.

The exhibition reinforces Dona Nedelcheva's clearly recognizable style, but simultaneously highlights the need for a new impulse and greater plastic variability for her future development.

The exhibition is open and will be available to visitors until July 30, 2026.
