Dissatisfied agricultural producers block the "Ivanovgrad - Kiprinos" border crossing, demanding the removal of restrictions on the passage of freight trucks weighing over 3.5 tons. The protest organizer, Hristo Parasarev, reported that today the crossing was closed three times for periods of a quarter to half an hour, with some farmers blocking the road with their own machinery.

The reason for the action is the intensive agricultural season, during which existing restrictions practically block the sale of products on the neighboring Greek market. According to the protesters, the restrictions affect not only the farmers but also the tourism sector, as the ban also applies to large buses.

After Bulgaria's accession to Schengen, the producers submitted an application to open the road for all types of transport, but the "Road Infrastructure" Agency responded that the movement is regulated by an agreement between the two states from 2007. The protesters plan a full blockade of the border next Sunday.
