Reasons for low charging speeds
Due to the focus on features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, music playback, and conducting calls, mass-market car ports often output a current of barely 0.5 amps. When using navigation apps like Google Maps simultaneously, this current is only sufficient to maintain the current battery level. For one hour of charging, an increase of only between 3% and 5% is achieved.
Even with the presence of additional ports specifically marked for charging, the current often does not exceed 1 amp due to the low voltage in the automotive system.
Effective power alternatives
To achieve high charging speeds comparable to those of a home outlet, it is recommended to use the cigarette lighter socket (12V outlet). These outlets can provide power in the range of 120 to 240 watts and a current of 10 to 20 amps.
