Bulgaria represents one of the safest destinations in many respects and is not exposed to threats from the current conflicts in Europe or the Middle East. This was stated by President Iliana Yotova to journalists at the Perperikon archaeological complex.
Security and Tourism
According to the Head of State, the country possesses some of the most secure borders within the European Union. Regarding the tourism sector, the President noted that the flow of visitors is decreasing due to objective factors, such as flight cancellations caused by tension in the Middle East.
Yotova emphasized the need for more active promotion of Bulgarian landmarks. She pointed to "Perperikon" as a unique site with a 7,000-year history that requires greater recognition on a European scale, and called upon scientists and archaeologists to contribute to telling the stories and legends of this place.
Migration Challenges
In the context of the migration crisis in Ceuta, the President noted that the situation is a precedent similar to incidents in Spain years ago. She reminded that at that time, the government in Spain began constructing walls, which led to threats from the EU of legal proceedings regarding human rights violations.
