The Plovdiv Municipal Council has voted on changes to the "Municipal Educational Program 2026–2028," which introduce new priorities in the fields of digitalization, security, and the modernization of the learning process. The proposal, submitted by Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, aims to adapt education in the city to the requirements of the modern era.

New subprograms and technological advancement

Three new subprograms have been added to the framework, focusing on specific areas:

Investments in infrastructure and inclusion

The program continues to support the modernization of the physical environment. With an annual budget of 150,000 euros, the municipality will co-finance the renovation of school yards, sports grounds, and play areas in kindergartens. Support also continues for the "One-to-One (1:1)" model, where every student has their own learning device.

An important emphasis is also placed on support for children with special educational needs (SEN). Kindergartens with specialized groups for such children will receive 100% non-reimbursable funding for their projects, without the mandatory co-financing rule that applies to other educational institutions.

Support for Montessori and vocational guidance

Plovdiv is strengthening its role as a center for Montessori education through systematic funding of pedagogy in nurseries, kindergartens, and schools, including certified training for staff and the creation of STEAM zones.

In the field of career guidance, the program relies on practical experience through student visits to real manufacturing enterprises and the development of dual education for high school students in grades XI and XII, aiming for an easier transition to the labor market.
