Bulgarian tennis player Petar Nesterov has made a successful start to his participation in the 'Challenger 125' series tournament in the Swiss city of Zug. In his first singles qualifying match, the 23-year-old Davis Cup national player demonstrated great willpower, overcoming Italy's Samuele Pieri with a score of 6:3, 6:7(6), and 7:5.

The clash was a true test of endurance, lasting nearly three hours (2 hours and 49 minutes). Nesterov dominated the first set, but allowed a comeback in the second part after missing two match points at 5:4 and losing the tiebreak. However, in the decisive third set, the Bulgarian showed character – after losing a break, he managed to win three consecutive games at 4:5 and finished the match in his favor.

With this victory, Nesterov earns 3 points for the world rankings and will face Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (No. 290 in the world) for a spot in the main draw.

Another success for Bulgarian tennis today was achieved by Aleksandar Donski, who qualified for the second round of the Zug qualifiers with a convincing 6:4, 6:1 result over Germany's Marco Topp. Donski will also participate in the doubles competition, where he will partner with Siddhant Bantya from India. The two are seeded number 2 in the bracket and will begin their match against the Swiss duo Mika Brunod and Patrick Schoon.
