Development and International Partnerships
Founded 29 years ago in the city of Targovishte, the company has established itself as a leader in the trade of traction, stationary, and specialized batteries for backup power. In 2011, it began international expansion with a representative office in Bucharest, and since 2015, it has been a main distributor for the Slovenian manufacturer TAB for the Bulgarian and Romanian markets.
The products of the Slovenian partner are used by global brands in the material handling equipment sector such as STILL, Jungheinrich, Toyota, Caterpillar, TCM, and CROWN.
Sustainability and Innovation
In October 2025, "Industrial Batteries" Ltd. was honored with the "Sustainable Development" award within the "Big Small" competition. The recognition comes in the context of the company applying a secondary processing model, in which 99% of products are recycled for reuse.
The company is also developing its own PERPETUUM production line, launched in 2009, which meets European quality standards. In 2025, the firm entered the ranking of the most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria, where a total of 1,891 companies noted an improvement in their financial results.

The business is managed by founder Georgi Tonkov, who is responsible for the financial and engineering parts, while his wife coordinates commercial activities and marketing. Their children are now also involved in management. The company remains specialized in the production and trade of lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries.
