Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Galab Donev has appointed a new director for the State Financial Inspection Agency (ADFI). According to an order issued by the Ministry of Finance, Lachezar Krastev will take over the position.
Changes in Institutions
Plamen Todorov was dismissed from his post on August 3, 2026. He was appointed by Donev himself in mid-June. The change occurs at a moment when Todorov is moving to another key role – he was elected as a member of the newly formed Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) via the National Assembly quota. At the commission's first meeting, Todorov was selected by lot to be its chairperson.
Todorov's post is being taken over by Ivaylo Ashkov.
Profile of the New ADFI Director
Lachezar Krastev has many years of experience in customs administration and economic management. He completed a Master's degree in "Economics and Industrial Management" at the "D. A. Tsenov" University of Economics in Svishtov and specialized in economics at the University of Passau in Germany. He also holds a professional qualification in "International Economic Relations and Customs Policy" from UNSS in Sofia.

His professional career includes working as a customs inspector, chief expert in the "Customs Regimes and Procedures" directorate, head of sector, and head of the "Customs Warehousing, Warehouses under Customs Control, Free Zones, and Free Warehouses" department, as well as head of the Obelya Customs Office and the Sofia-East Customs Office during the period 1991–2013. During the years 2013–2014 and 2021–2024, Krastev held the position of Deputy Director at the Customs Agency. He is proficient in German and English.
