As part of World Hepatitis Day, the Regional Health Inspection (RHI) in Stara Zagora has announced a campaign for free testing for viral hepatitis B and C. The initiative, which aims to raise awareness and remove barriers to treatment, will take place at the end of July 2026.
Mobile Testing Schedule
Consulting doctors from the RHI will be available at the following locations:
- July 27: Stara Zagora, "5th of October" Park (11:00 AM – 1:30 PM);
- July 28: Radnevo, in front of the Municipality building (11:00 AM – 1:30 PM);
- July 29: Kazanlak, in front of the DDK "District Polyclinic – Kazanlak" (09:30 AM – 12:00 PM).
In addition to the tests, health education materials and condoms will be distributed during the campaign.
How to Protect Yourself and When to See a Doctor?
Viral hepatitis are infections that attack the liver. While hepatitis A and E are primarily transmitted through contaminated food and water, types B, C, and D are spread through blood circulation (non-sterile instruments, tattoos, medical procedures) or sexually.
Key symptoms that should not be ignored:
- Severe fatigue and loss of appetite;
- Nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain;
- Yellowing of the eyes (sclera) and skin (jaundice);
- Darkening of the urine and lighter-colored stools.
It is important to note that chronic hepatitis C often progresses slowly and without obvious symptoms, making regular testing critically important for early detection and the prevention of severe complications such as liver failure.
